An advice for starters who are just into this series, you should start the game with easy mode and that mode really serves as a good tutorial mode for new players and after getting used to the gameplay, you will do better in the normal difficulty mode and hard difficulty mode(although I have yet to complete hard mode, that is plain insane!).
